In 1989, with a strong vision for neighborhood schools throughout New Jersey where children with disabilities and learning differences would be welcomed as classmates, valued as learners and empowered to succeed, parents and professionals united to establish the New Jersey Coalition for Education, Inc. (NJCIE).
A collaborative spirit among educators and parents has turned a small group with a clear focus into a powerful school reform movement that recognizes inclusive educational practices as best practice for all children. NJCIE staff annually trains well over 2,000 New Jersey educators in inclusive practices through our Summer Inclusion Conference, on-site workshops and consultation with school districts and educational institutions. We continue to expand our services supporting hundreds of parents through our weekly Parent Chat teleconferences, and individual and group coaching. NCIE’s newly designed website and blog reaches thousands seeking information and support for New Jersey students.
This holiday season prompts a time to extend gratitude and to reflect as NJCIE marks its 25th anniversary milestone. Sincere appreciation is extended to those whose generosity and support of NJCIE has allowed us to bring best inclusive practices to a state that is challenged by a very separate system of education for children with disabilities. With much work ahead to still be accomplished, we hope that you will consider NJCIE’s mission of great value and select to support us when donating this holiday season. Please visit our Join/Give link for ways to make a charitable donation. http://njcie.org/donate/. Another way to support NJCIE as you shop online is through the Amazon Smile Program. Simply choose NJCIE, shop as usual with no extra cost, and Amazon donates 4 to 10% of what you spend to NJCIE! http://smile.amazon.com/about/ref=smi_se_ft_abt_saas Remember that every donation makes a difference regardless of size.
I am grateful for the opportunity to join the NJCIE community in generous and passionate commitment to advancing the quest for inclusion. Thank you for your continued support. All of us at NJCIE wish you the best through this holiday season.
